How do you solve the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest? When you reach the Checkpoint Rest Town, the settlement on the Vermund-Battahl Border, you’re introduced to a unique mechanic that can be used numerous times in the game. There’s a vendor in this town that allows you to create forgeries, and we’re going to use this to our advantage in the Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest.
While you can complete this quest early on in Dragon’s Dogma 2, we’d recommend waiting until you’ve reached The Caged Magistrate main quest first as you can kill two birds with one stone. Don’t worry, unlike the Rodge location quest that also takes place here, you can take as much time as you want to finish the quest.
This guide contains spoilers for the Jadeite Orb quest, including the relevant story context.
How to obtain the Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest
As soon as you step foot in the Checkpoint Rest Town, a Beastren named Offulve approaches you and asks about a stone named the Jadeite Orb. He claims it was stolen from him while he was sent to deliver it, and now he’s scared Master Everard, a local merchant, will kill him if he finds out it went missing. If you can find the Jadeite Orb, Ollulve wants to sell it and use the money to leave the area, finally earning enough money to avoid men like Everard. Talking to Ollulve automatically unlocks the Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest.
Shortly after activating this quest, you may stumble upon Everard who will ask you about your encounter with Offulve. Everard talks about how he has vanished with the Jadeite Orb, and that his fellow merchants are looking for him in the city as you speak. He’s more interested in reclaiming the Orb, offering to reward you handsomely if you find it.
Where to find the Jadeite Orb
As we mentioned earlier, The Caged Magistrate quest lines up perfectly with this one as you can complete both quests at the same time. When you reach the prison to find the locked-up magistrate, take a look at the cell to the left of him to find a prisoner named Gallad. He knows that you’re after the Jadeite Orb and, if you have 500 Gold to offer him, he’ll let you know that Ibrahim in the Checkpoint Rest Town could verify whether the item is fake or not.
What Gallad fails to mention is that Ibrahim also sells the Jadeite Orb for 7,000 Gold. If you want to complete the quest right away and you don’t have any Ferrystones to Dragon’s Dogma 2 fast travel, there’s an Oxcart in Vernworth that can take you directly to the Checkpoint Rest City.
Request a Jadeite Orb forgery
If you want to claim double the quest rewards, the smart thing to do is to make a forgery of the Jadeite Orb so you have two in your possession. Head to Ibrahim’s store in the Checkpoint Rest City and pay him 2,000 Gold to create a duplicate copy of the Jadeite Orb.
You have to wait a day before he is finished with the forgery, so you may want to complete a nearby quest first. We recommend the Prey for the Pack quest as it should take you no time once you know where to search for the poor boy. The only Dragon’s Dogma 2 enemies in the Prey for the Pack quest are wolves, and they should be easy to take down at almost any level.
Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest rewards
Handing over the fake Jadeite Orb to Offulve prompts him to leave town forever. One of your pawns remarks that your party may have done Offulve an unkindness, suggesting that things might not look so good for the Beastren on his future travels. Oh well.
Here’s what Offulve gives you for the Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest:
- 1x Elite Camping Kit
- 3,000 Gold
- 1,000 XP
While you can technically make two fake Jadeite Orbs, Master Everard is smarter than he looks, he will get Ibrahim to verify that the item is in fact real. If you hand over the fake Jadeite Orb to Everard, you can run to Ibrahim in an attempt to bribe him. First, you can offer him 1,000 Gold but he’ll refuse to cooperate, then 2,000 Gold, and then 3,000 Gold, going all the way up to 6,000 Gold. At this point, we ran out of money and Ibrahim refused to help us out of this bind.
When Everard finds out you’ve attempted to swindle him, he commands the guards to arrest you. This will cause a fight between you, Everard, and the guards, but it’s probably easier if you let them kill you to reload your save file. Now that you’ve gone back in time, hand over the real Jadeite Orb and wait for Ibrahim to confirm its validity. Wait one day for Ibrahim to perform his task and you should receive your rewards once you bump into Everard.
Here’s what Everard gives you for the Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest:
- 12,000 Gold
- 1,000 XP
Considering the cost of the Jadeite Orb forgery, it’s worth bamboozling Offulve with the fake item as the quest rewards pay for the forgery, and you’ll get some experience, too.
That’s all you need to complete the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest. While you’re here, give our Dragon’s Dogma 2 forgery guide a read to see what other items you can duplicate for just 2,000 Gold. It’s worth pointing out that Ibrahim’s shop also sells an important item for the Feast of Deception quest, so check out that guide when you reach that main mission.
