The best Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods

Take a look at some of the top Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods to hit the RPG including increased carry weight, multiple save management, and more.

What are the best Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods? It’s early days for Dragon’s Dogma 2, but the character creator demo released by Capcom weeks before the official launch has already sparked some interest from the modding community. If the other RE Engine games are anything to go by, there’s going to be a lot to look forward to over the next few months.

Though we’re disappointed to find that Dragon’s Dogma 2 multiplayer isn’t a thing, the RPG game being single-player only means it has plenty of modding potential. We’ve found the best so far from Dragon’s Dogma 2 modders, and just for fun, we’re also including a list of mods we’d like to see in the future.

The best mods for Dragon’s Dogma 2 right now are:

NPC Hairstyles

Why should Dragon’s Dogma 2 characters like Wilhelmina and Ulrika get to have the nicest hair in the game? Fortunately, Jenya66 has made it possible to use NPC exclusive hairstyles as both the Arisen and Dragon’s Dogma 2 Pawns with the NPC Hairstyles mod. Unless you go to a barber to change your hairstyle, you’re going to have to look at that bonnet all day long, so you may as well have a dope cut.

Height Mod

Dragon’s Dogma 2 may have a fantastic character creator tool, but the game sure is lacking when it comes to short king options. Modder StrykerA has gone above and beyond with this one, giving players the option to create characters under five foot with their height mod. This does come in two forms: 140cm and 150cm limits. The creator recommends picking 150cm as this should work correctly when playing online.

Better Beetles

This handy Better Beetles mod means that instead of every Golden Trove Beetle increasing your carry weight capacity by 0.15kg, it gives 1kg, 10kg, or 100kg of increased encumbrance. Imagine all of the things you can carry around with you with that hugely increased capacity.

The UI hasn’t yet been updated with this mod, so the in-game message will still only say it’s increased by 0.15kg. The change can be seen in the status menu though, if you want to double check.

Save Manager for Multiple Characters

This Save Manager mod allows you to start a new game whenever you want to without losing progress on your other characters. Having multiple characters without a mod isn’t possible, as we detail in our Dragon’s Dogma 2 multiple saves guide, but this mod has changed that for the better.

You can have unlimited saves, roll back to old saves, and back up your saves in case they become corrupted. Thankfully, this mod uses next to no resources as it’s controlled via the command prompt.

Fast Travel Pack

This Fast Travel Pack mod adds 999 Elite and Explorer Camping Kits, Wakestones, Portcrystals, Seeker’s Tokens, and Ferrystones to the first shop in Melve. They restock to 999 every in-game day, too. You’ll never be caught short of a place to rest or an option to get out of a sticky situation again.

The Dragon’s Dogma 2 fast travel system is one of our gripes with the game, so we’re grateful for this addition.

Art of Metamorphosis Tome

This Art of Metamorphosis Tome mod adds the item to the first merchant you find in Melve, and to Philbert’s in Vernworth. This controversial item is an inclusion with the Dragon’s Dogma 2 microtransactions, but as has been widely stated these are also available to purchase in-game.

This mod moves the item closer to the start of the game, but you might also want to read our guide on How to change your Dragon’s Dogma 2 appearance, for other methods of doing so without spending a cent.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 mod wishlist

It’s impressive to see how unflinching the Dragon’s Dogma 2 developers are when it comes to protecting their vision of what the game should be… however, there are elements we definitely would change if we had the chance. With mods, we might be able to experience the Dragon’s Dogma 2 we always dreamed about.

Here are some Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods we’d like to see in the future:

  • Eternal Ferrystone
  • Mounts
  • Transmog
  • Better photo mode
  • Improved map navigation
  • Different enemy types

Eternal Ferrystone

Look yeah, we know why the devs decided to remove the Eternal Ferrystone that was introduced in the Dark Arisen expansion from the sequel, but we’d like it back, please. Ferrystones in their current form are rare and expensive, but let’s imagine a world where it’s easy to get around the map, that sure sounds convenient. We don’t think it’s going to take long for someone to mod this essential item into Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Mounts

Did you know that a Griffin can literally scoop you from the map and fly you across the world, dropping you anywhere, leaving you to fend for yourself? That tells us that both mounts and flying mounts are possible, but the game doesn’t want us to have these things. Well, we’ll see what modders have to say about that. We can’t wait to ride our pet Griffins around the map, but we’ll also settle for Link’s motorbike from Breath of the Wild. Hell, just give us a horse, pretty much anything is better than walking everywhere.

Transmog

There was a point in the game where I had to pick between my character’s luxurious hair or a stupid helmet. I sold the helmet. We know there are plenty of stylish outfits in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that we’d love to wear to the ball and to the battlefield, but the game hasn’t been designed with transmog in mind. If only there was a modder out there who could let us wear our favorite drip without having to sacrifice our stats.

Better photo mode

The photo mode is genuinely one of the biggest letdowns of the entire game. Most photo modes allow you to move away from your anchor point to take the perfect photo, but Dragon’s Dogma 2 fixes the anchor point to your character. Taking the perfect photo is so much more difficult than it needs to be, and we’re hoping someone can fix this right away. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a beautiful game, it deserves a proper photo mode to show off its incredible visuals.

Improved map navigation

Uncovering the entire Dragon’s Dogma 2 map will take you a long time, and it doesn’t help that you don’t have access to simple tools like a waypoint system to help you get to your locations faster. When you place a pin on a map, you expect the game to create a path for you, especially when the game doesn’t have mounts and lacks a good Dragon’s Dogma 2 fast travel system. We’d love to see someone mod in basic map tools to make adventuring a little more enjoyable.

Different enemy types

The combat in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is incredibly fun, but there’s only so many goblins and lizards we can pummel to dust before it starts to feel all too similar. We’d love to see a wider range of enemies, maybe swap out some goblins for fire-breathing bugs, or let us fight against a giant spider of sorts. Considering the size of the map and the amount of caves in it, we could easily see someone hiding away several rare enemies to create unique instances similar to the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sphinx.

Those are the best Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods so far, but stay tuned as we’re going to be updating this page whenever new mods are released. In the meantime, why not check out our Dragon’s Dogma 2 vocations guide to see which class you or your Pawn should choose. We also have our Dragon’s Dogma 2 review which you should give a read if you haven’t done so already to see our final verdict.
