Where does Warzone Fortune’s Keep take place? The Fortune’s Keep Resurgence mode introduced two brand-new maps to Warzone back during the Call of Duty Vanguard era, and fans have been desperate to see a return to the smaller, faster battle royale mode ever since.
With the Warzone Season 2 release date, and MW3 Season 2 with it, Fortune’s Keep returned as a new Warzone map, thanks to some major changes following an earthquake. Warzone fans have also been clamoring for the return of Rebirth Island to the battle royale game, and while it has been confirmed for some time 2024, it’s still a way off. Keep yourself busy in the meantime with the latest changed to the Fortune’s Keep Warzone map.
Warzone Fortune’s Keep Season 2 reloaded changes
In Season 2 reloaded, Fortune’s Keep remains, but with a new mobile POI – Research Vessel. This large boat circles the island’s shoreline throughout the match, so you can drop in at the start, or hope it comes closer before the storm moves in.
The Research Vessel could be a great place for you and your squad to drop in, though there might be some competition to start with. If you can clear it out, you’re granted the slight protection of the waters around you – as long as you activate the POIs UAV tower to keep an eye for anyone swimming or sailing closer.
The interesting mobile POI then has lots of interactive parts – pilot the craft around the shore while your teammates investigate the secrets within, including exclusive Buy Station items and a decontamination station – a stationery version of the new portable Field Upgrade. This creates a circle of protective gas that makes the storm safe, giving you that little bit longer to explore the Research Vessel and steer it out of the storm.
Fortune’s Keep POIs
The Fortune’s Keep POIs have changed slightly from the original map, with some familiar locations remaining mostly the same – with some “geographical surprises”. Meanwhile, some new POIs have appeared, and there are currently 12 in total:
- Research Vessel
- Keep
- Terraces
- Konni Outpost
- Winery
- Gatehouse
- Graveyard
- Town
- Ground Zero
- Pier
- Lighthouse
- Overlook
The Keep and the Winery are among those locations that have returned, but the pier is a new coastal location we’ve never seen before, as is the Konni Outpost.
Warzone Fortune’s Keep map
Fortune’s Keep was first released on June 22, 2022, as part of the Mercenaries of Fortune season. One of the Resurgence maps, alongside Rebirth Island, Fortune’s Keep is smaller than the main Warzone map, and is made for faster, more intense battle royale combat.
The Fortune’s Keep map is slightly different this time around, following the effects of a devastating earthquake. A selection of Call of Duty content creators were sent models of different POIs as part of the reveal, with the models being the first hint of the changes. For example, Outlaws creator Majin was sent the Winery. In a tweet shared by Call of Duty, Majin points out that there is a new “crack”, running through the POI.
Where is Fortune’s Keep based?
While Fortune’s Keep is a fictional location, the island is “inspired by real world locations in the Mediterranean,” confirmed by High Moon creative director Matt Krystek during the original Fortune’s Keep release.
In the Fortune’s Keep release blog from June 2022, Krystek also said, “We wanted this map to be timeless and feel like it could be a real location that you could visit. Narratively, there is also some great contrast in having an area that was once used to fight against pirates now taken over by a group of mercs and smugglers.” Judging from the red and cream architecture, Italy would be a natural parallel to draw.
As you’re getting used to the new Warzone map and its latest POI, make sure you’re doing everything you can to level up your Warzone battle pass, especially since there are some excellent new weapons to unlock. These new guns, particularly the BP50, are part of the new meta and are among the best Warzone guns, so they’re worth working for.
