Diablo 4 Season 4 release date

Here's when the Diablo 4 Season 4 release date is, as well as everything we know so far about the upcoming season in Blizzard's action RPG.

A large, helmed skeleton looms over players in Diablo 4 Season 3 The Season of the Construct.

When does Diablo 4 Season 4 start? A much-loved feature from Diablo 3 makes its return in D4 with the (re)introduction of seasons, adding everything from new questlines to items, gameplay mechanics, and more. Expanding on the rich, gothic world of Sanctuary, Blizzard makes sure players have plenty to sink their teeth into, whether you’re a fresh-faced player taking their first steps into Sanctuary or a grizzled veteran of the Burning Hells.

It may be some time before we’ll see Diablo 4 Season 4, but the good news is that it comes after the arrival of D4 on Game Pass. Just like every other seasonal event, it adds a whole bunch of new content to explore in Blizzard’s action RPG game, no matter whether you’re a level 100 player who’s been around since the Diablo 4 release date or someone who is considering jumping into the game now it’s coming to Game Pass.

Diablo 4 Season 4 release date

The Diablo 4 Season 4 release date is Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at around 10am PDT / 1pm EDT / 6pm BST / 8pm CEST / 5am AEDT. Diablo seasons typically run on a three-month cycle and start on the same day the previous one finishes, but in a Campfire Chat in March 2024, it was announced that Season 4 is delayed by around a month.

Blizzard announced during the Campfire Chat that Season 4 will bring changes to the amount and quality of loot that players can find, as well as the number and type of affixes that gear can have and brand new ways to improve your gear that will replace the current systems. You can try those changes out on the public test realm between April 2 and April 9, 2024. You’ll need to download a new client for this, though.

The benefits of joining in the PTR and providing feedback to Blizzard include a fresh character with the campaign fully completed, at level 100, with 100 million gold, 1,000 obols, and a complete set of rare gear. It sounds like unbridled chaos, if you ask us.

Diablo 4 seasons explained

Diablo 4 season last roughly three months, with four seasons a year. You must have completed the campaign before you can experience any of the new seasonal stories. You can, however, complete the campaign in the seasonal realm if you are new to D4, and your usual slaying of beasts and clearing of dungeons will add to your Diablo 4 Battle Pass progress.

If you aren’t new to the game and have already started your adventure in Sanctuary, you’ll need new seasonal characters; each one is a fresh start from level one, which gets you to level up, experience the seasonal content, and get great loot – don’t forget that the skip campaign option becomes available once you have completed it once. Once the season ends, you won’t lose your character, as every seasonal character is transferred to the Eternal Realm to allow players to keep slaying and looting to their heart’s content.

Seasons themselves introduce new items and new mechanics, giving the developer the chance to implement any changes to base gameplay, as well. Season 1, for example, the Season of the Malignant, introduced seasonal Malignant Hearts, as well as a change to item storage.

All in all, there’s a lot to be excited about for the ongoing Diablo 4 seasonal story that continues when the D4 Season 4 release date arrives.
